Under the Redwood Tree

We were married under the canopy of the  redwood trees in Sonoma County, California.  Under the Redwood Tree–It is one of those beautiful, awe inspiring places.  For me, it is a place filled with family, bike rides, delicious baked goods and one of my favourite knitting shops (all the important things, right?).  The weather always seems to be good (a fact that may or may not be contested by those who live there year-round).  I also loved planning our wedding.  Hours spent looking for inspiration in unexpected places, planning a menu, picking out flowers with my mom, designing invitations and cutting out little birds to place on wine glasses just because they look beautiful… and all for a celebration with friends and family.  It was a dream come true for the creator in me.  Our wedding was a place where beauty and ordinary meet.  Weddings are common. They are something many of us will plan and all of us will attend.  Yet they are beautiful, a holy sacrament that is set apart.  I think that’s pretty wonderful.

I guess that is a long winded way of explaining that this blog is named for something beautiful and yet ordinary, ordinary and yet beautiful.  Sounds quite a bit like how I would describe my life as a mostly-stay-at-home mom these days.

Our two kiddos are the stars of the blog these days as well as a few recipes, handmade projects, tutorial’s and whatever else is on my mind.  I’ve used it as a way to find purpose and order in the ordinary things I do each day and and an excuse to take photos too.  I love to teach myself new things and hope to inspire those who read this to try something new along with me.  Won’t you join me?
